Search and recovery teams continue to search the site of one of India’s worst aviation disasters for a third day
AHMEDABAD, India — The Air India plane crash this week was one of India’s worst aviation disasters, killing 241 people on board and several people on the ground. Indian authorities said Friday the investigation into the crash was underway and is expected to include experts from the plane’s maker Boeing and U.S. aviation regulators.

AHMEDABAD, India (AP) — Indian investigators on Friday recovered the digital flight data recorder, or the black box, of the Air India flight that fell from the sky and killed 241 people on board and several people on the ground, authorities said.
It’s also the latest disaster to hit the beleaguered American aerospace giant — which has been dogged by a door that blew off a 737 jet, a leaky spacecraft that stranded astronauts on the International Space Station for months, as well as politically damaging delays in outfitting the new Air Force One jets.
The crash happened just weeks after the company cut a deal with the U.S. government to avoid taking criminal responsibility for a pair of deadly crashes in 2018 and 2019.
Air India flight AI171 crashed in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad. Reports suggest over 200 passengers were onboard the flight– a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
