Tottenham had also reportedly been in discussions with the French defender on deadline day before he made the switch to Villa Park. Villa had been looking to sign a new centre-back after Diego Carlos’s departure to Fenerbahce in January.

Axel Disasi will spend the rest of the season on loan at Aston Villa, after a late-late move on transfer deadline day was confirmed following quite a few twists and turns in the last couple days.
