Illinois residents voted to keep the current state flag, with it receiving more votes than the next five alternatives combined.

The redesign contest included 10 new designs, two former state flags and the current one. The current flag received over 165,000 of the nearly 385,000 votes cast.

The results are in for the contest to redesign the Illinois state flag, but these tallies aren’t the final say. One design from Champaign received the second most votes, behind the current state flag.
