The LaSalle County Sheriff's office said Ronald W. Martin Jr., 45, was taken into custody just before 6 p.m. in LaSalle, Illinois, about 30 miles away from the crime scene in Sheridan. He had been hiding from police for most of the day.

There is a manhunt and death investigation underway in Sheridan, Illinois, after two people were found dead after a call for shots fired and a house fire overnight, police said.
