The largest domino of the 2025 offseason has always been Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford. Whether or not that domino falls will dictate how the heavyweight teams in this fight will shake out. And the latest development in Stafford’s ongoing contract negotiations is making his exit look more and more possible.

The former Super Bowl champion also reworked his deal with the Rams prior to the 2024 season. He briefly contemplated retirement following this season, but also said prior to 2024 that he envisioned playing several more seasons, despite missing time due to injury in both 2022 and 2023.

In perhaps one of the more surprising storylines of the NFL offseason, the Rams and Matthew Stafford appear headed for a divorce.
