This is a very similar problem to the one that forced Kia to recall more than 100,000 K5 sedans from the same model years at the back end of last month. In the K5’s case, the trim was part of the C-pillar rather than the door, and it was made by a different supplier in Korea, but the issue was same.

K5 models may also face the same issue with their C-pillar garnish face plates, which are the decorative panels located near the left and right rear windows. In an additional notice, Kia said the piece may loosen and fall off due to a supplier quality issue.

It’s been a wild year for auto industry recalls. Ford Motor Company recently smashed a record previously held by GM for the most individual recalls in one year. And now, Kia is issuing a recall for two of its most popular models: the Telluride SUV and K5 sedan.
