Florida Judge Aileen Cannon stated Monday that she would not block the release of Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith's report on President-elect Donald Trump's 2020 election interference case.

On Monday, the federal judge presiding over the classified documents case in Florida allowed the Justice Department to release part of Smith’s final report. According to court filings, the report is a detailed review of the decisions Smith made in his two indictments against Trump.

Mr. Smith, a special counsel appointed by Attorney General Merrick B. Garland, had signaled that he would step down before Donald J. Trump’s inauguration.
