Popular music artist files a lawsuit against music label Universal Music group over defamation and claims made by Kendrick Lamar diss track "Not Like Us"

Drake is suing his record label for spreading a “false and malicious narrative” when it released and promoted Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us.”

Drake's legal team said Universal Music Group used its resources to "elevate a dangerous and inflammatory message that was designed to assassinate Drake’s character."

Drake filed a lawsuit against his own label, UMG Recordings, Inc., amid his ongoing beef with Kendrick Lamar. The rapper, whose full name is Aubrey Drake Graham, accused Universal Music Group of approving and publishing Lamar's diss track "Not Like Us,

According to TMZ Hip-Hop, the suit addresses Universal releasing and promoting Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.” The suit claims the label was well aware of Lamar’s lyrics, images in the music video, and how allegations of Drake being a pedophile were both false and dangerous.

Not only are these claims untrue, but the notion that we would seek to harm the reputation of any artist — let alone Drake — is illogical."

The superstar rapper claims in a lawsuit that the record company he and Kendrick Lamar are both signed with have put his life and reputation at risk.
