Scotland second row Gregor Brown has been called up to the British and Irish Lions ' tour of Australia amid concerns over the fitness of Joe McCarthy. Brown joins Andy Farrell 's squad in Melbourne on Sunday to provide cover for Tuesday's final midweek match against a First Nations and Pasifika XV,

Dominant for 50 minutes the Lions threatened to deliver a significant beating on their hosts after a Finn Russell penalty and tries for Sione Tuipulotu and Tom Curry put them 17-5 ahead at the break.

Although ifs and buts are futile in the unforgiving world of Test rugby union, Australia must cling to the hope of rebounding next weekend at the Melbourne Cricket Ground to force a decider.
