Synopsys’ $35 billion acquisition of Ansys has finally closed, 18 months after the deal was first announced. The completion comes in the same week China’s antitrust watchdog conditionally approved the deal, following in the footsteps of regulators in the US, UK, and EU.

Synopsys has completed its acquisition of Ansys. First announced back in January 2024, the acquisition combines two companies with leading positions in silicon design, IP and simulation and analysis. According to Synopsys, the acquisition of Ansys will give it access to an expanded $31 billion total addressable market (TAM).
