The Canada WNT has a new head coach, with Canada Soccer officially handing former San Diego Wave boss Casey Stoney the reins on Monday.
Casey Stoney, 42, who played more than 130 matches for the English national team, previously served as the first head coach of Manchester United Women and went on to win Coach of the Year honours at the helm of the NWSL’s San Diego Wave. She was fired from the Wave last June amid a seven-game losing streak.
The Englishwoman replaces Bev Priestman, who was removed following an inquiry into a drone-spying scandal within the federation.
