House Republicans accused the Democrats leading New York, Denver, Boston and Chicago of protecting criminals. The mayors pushed back and touted their cities’ low crime rates.

Calvion Dayshun Thomas, 24, was pulled over during a traffic stop by Chicago police and arrested on Feb. 17, Arkansas State Police said in a Feb. 24 news release. He’s charged with murder, battery, theft by receiving and fleeing.

Republicans accused the mayors of New York, Chicago, Denver and Boston of providing sanctuary to criminals, while Democrats pointed to falling crime rates and defended helping the needy.

The U.S. Marshals arrested a Gary man wanted for murder after a six-hour standoff in Owensboro, Kentucky, on Valentine’s Day, according to police and local media reports.

Arkansas head coach John Calipari is very familiar with going up against Duke as he met up with the Blue Devils often in the Champions Classic when he was at Kentucky. Now, Calipari is the head coach of the Arkansas basketball team, but he will go up against Duke in a familiar venue as the Champions Classic is often held in Chicago as well.
