Iowa State's Senior Vice President of Student Affairs will headline a variety of local Martin Luther King Jr. celebrations in Story County.

That was the story on Tuesday night as the Mason City girls’ team took down Ames, 32-31 in double overtime, off a buzzer-beater from senior Machaela Trask in Iowa Alliance Conference girls' basketball action. The boys fought No. 10 Ames in an 86-44 losing effort with a game-high eight points from Owen Rickers.
