A leaked email reveals Ram is focusing resources on the Ramcharger, not the REV. The decision aligns with current trends favoring range-extended trucks over pure EVs. The shift means that we won’t get a long-range version of the pure electric 1500.

With the 1500 REV delayed until 2026, Ram will instead focus initially on the 1500 Ramcharger series plug-in hybrid, with order books for the model set to open in the first half of 2025. The 1500 Ramcharger is expected to deliver 690 miles of range, combining a 92-kwh battery with a gas V-6 serving as a range extender.

"We’re a truck brand and we don’t have a compact, we don’t have a mid-size," boss Tim Kuniskis said. "Kinda disingenuous to call me a truck brand, isn’t it?"

The 1500 REV was initially promised with a standard 168-kwh battery, targeting 350 miles of range, and an optional 229-kwh battery, targeting 500 miles. The spokesperson confirmed that the 1500 REV with the 168-kwh battery is still planned for 2026.
