NORTH TEXAS – North Texas is bracing for a mix of snow and sleet. A winter storm warning went into effect Thursday morning and continues until 12 p.m. Friday. The warning includes Denton, Collin, Dallas and Tarrant counties.

The Tennessee Valley could see some of the heaviest snowfall, with 6 inches expected on Friday. A wide swath of the country is under winter weather warnings and advisories and will see impacts including "widespread closures, treacherous travel, scattered power outages, and downed branches," the weather service said.

Several inches of snow could fall along with a glaze of ice, creating dangerous travel for those driving in for the Cotton Bowl in Arlington.
