French Inventor Franky Zapata has become the first person in history to cross the English Channel on a hoverboard. The 40-year-old completed the crossing this morning after 23 minutes.

Zapata made the first attempt to fly over the Channel on July 25 but stopped halfway through after missing a landing platform on which he was supposed to refuel. Not the same happened the second time.

Zapata has yet to respond to DailyMail.com to comment on the device. Franky Zapata amazed the world in 2011 with the release of his Flyboard, which uses a water jetpack to propel users into the air.
