Local tech leaders, who are also hosting a preview event, hope to harness the national attention and brand the region as the heart of the AI economy.

While some investments were unveiled at the Inaugural Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit, the region's aspirations are bigger.

President Donald J. Trump hailed the upward of $90 billion investment in 20 energy and technology projects as the largest set of investments in the state’s history at Tuesday’s Pennsylvania Energy & Innovation Summit.

Investments include $3B for a pair of hydroelectric plants and $25B from Blackstone for data center and energy infrastructure.

While on Carnegie Mellon University’s campus on Monday, Channel 11 saw police officers and other crews making preparations for the Energy and Innovation Summit.
