A mother-of-four has died after falling 75 feet in an area known as Purgatory Chasm, while hiking with her children. The 49-year-old woman, who was later named as Carrie Sanger, from Topsfield, Massachusetts, was out with three of her children when the tragic accident occurred on Wednesday.

A person has died after falling at Purgatory Chasm in Sutton, Massachusetts on Wednesday afternoon. Massachusetts State Police said they received reports of a person falling shortly after 2 p.m. on Wednesday. The person, who has not been identified, died as the scene.

The woman was hiking with her children and other family members when she fell approximately 50 to 75 feet, police said.
