SEPTA Police Chief Chuck Lawson said the crackdown on fare evasion and other crimes on the transit system is improving safety and quality of life.

SEPTA released its mid-year crime report for 2025, which shows significant increases in enforcement related to fare evasion and quality-of-ride offenses.

Serious crime has remained low, the report says. That includes a reduction in homicides, aggravated assaults, thefts and arsons.
