U.S. President Donald Trump initially distanced himself from Israel’s surprise attack on Friday that triggered the conflict, but in recent days has hinted at greater American involvement, saying he wants something “much bigger” than a ceasefire.

Iran warned that any direct U.S. support for Israel could trigger an immediate Iranian response. Its UN ambassador in Geneva stated that if Tehran determines the U.S. is involved in attacks on Iran, it will begin retaliating against American targets.

Since the war began last week with Israeli attacks on Iranian nuclear sites, the Emirates has waived all visa overstay fees for Iranians stranded in the country. On Tuesday, the Emirati ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, called the Iranian president to express “solidarity with Iran and its people during these challenging times.”
