Angel City defender Savy King was hospitalized in stable condition a day after she was stretchered off the field because of what's being called a “medical event” during the National Women’s Soccer League team’s match against the Utah Royals.

Angel City FC defender Savy King was carted off on a stretcher Friday and taken to a hospital after going down with a non-contact injury. She remains in stable condition.

The 20-year-old went down in the 74th minute of the game but play resumed 11 minutes later. We explain how that decision was taken and why.
