KERRVILLE, Texas – The Lone Star State continues to grapple with a heartbreaking series of events. Just over a week after the initial catastrophic and deadly deluges, heavy rains and devastating flash floods have returned, pounding Texas once more.
Rob Albach knew every bend along his favorite stretch of the Guadalupe River, and before setting out, he warned of the hazards. “We got sweepers,” he said of the overhanging branches that can brush a kayaker off their seat.

Rain rushing to the Guadalupe took it from a depth of less than 8 feet to 37.5 feet, a deluge with as much volume as an aircraft carrier over five minutes.
Walston drove from his home to the Center Point Bridge on FM 480 near Highway 27, where he shot video of the river below. He recorded nearly 38 minutes of surging water as it rose over 20 feet, carrying massive cypress trees, debris and even a house.
For a third and final day, teams in Texas Hill Country must face the threat of flooding as they continue to search for the missing 170 people after the deadly July Fourth weekend flooding.
