Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul and other Democratic attorneys general are suing the Trump administration over policies to limit gender-affirming care for youths. The lawsuit argues the policies violate states’ 10th Amendment right to regulate health care.

Illinois is one of 15 Democratic states suing the Trump administration's efforts to block gender-affirming treatments for minors.

Raoul and the attorneys general of California, Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York are co-leading the multistate lawsuit filed today, arguing the administration has overstepped its authority by using threats of criminal prosecution and federal investigations to pressure health care providers, Raoul's office said in a press release.
