JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — Indonesia hired former Barcelona striker Patrick Kluivert as head coach on Wednesday.

Indonesia announced on Wednesday the appointment of former Netherlands forward Patrick Kluivert as their new men's national team coach, a move to bolster their bid to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

Patrick Kluivert has been named the new head coach of Indonesia on a two-year contract. The former Barcelona and Netherlands forward replaces Shin Tae-yong, and will aim to guide the Pasukan Garuda to only their second World Cup finals.

Just two days after the shock dismissal of Shin Tae-Yong, Netherlands legend Patrick Kluivert has been announced as the new coach of Indonesia.
