KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Ceasefire talks have started between Thai and Cambodian leaders in Malaysia in an urgent effort to resolve deadly border clashes that entered a fifth day despite mounting international calls for peace.

Fresh cross-border clashes between Thailand and Cambodia broke out on Sunday hours after US President Donald Trump announced the two Southeast Asian nations had agreed to ceasefire talks.

Socheata, in a press conference on Wednesday, as reported by Antara, said that Malaysia, as the current ASEAN chair, had dispatched a high-level delegation led by General Datuk Haji Mohd Nizam Bin Haji Jaffar, the Chief of the Malaysian Armed Forces, to Cambodia on Tuesday.
