Rory McIlroy lashed out at the toughest golf course in the country Friday as Oakmont Country Club continued to bare its teeth at the 156 men competing in the 2025 U.S. Open.

The American had four birdies in his opening eight holes and his is the only bogey-free round halfway through day one.

Ironically, McIlroy saved par on both holes, then stuffed a wedge to 5 feet at the par-4 finishing hole to card a second straight 73 and make the cut by a shot at 6 over.

Victor Perez found the bottom of the cup from the tee on the 192-yard 6th hole, hitting a 7 iron just below the hole and watching as it released straight into the hole for an ace.

Perez recorded an ace on the sixth hole to help him fall to even par.

Oakmont Country Club, hosting the 2025 U.S. Open, is uniquely divided by the Pennsylvania Turnpike, a major highway that splits the golf course into two sections.

The third major of the season tees off June 12 from one of golf's most iconic venues, Oakmont Country Club, for the 2025 U.S. Open.
