Wales have been dealt a late injury blow with full-back Liam Williams a major doubt for the Six Nations clash with Italy. The experienced full-back had been struggling with a knee injury in the 43-0 defeat to France and Warren Gatland confirmed post-match that if Owen Watkin hadn't left the field in the first-half Williams would have been replaced.

Wales don’t have the game-breaking backs that they once had. Josh Adams is in the midst of his longest try-scoring drought for Wales (eight matches), Liam Williams doesn’t have the gas to cut through defences like he did in his pomp, and Tom Rogers, who was lively against France, has yet to get off the mark.

Jac Morgan captained Wales in the U20 Six Nations in 2020, achieving more turnovers than any other player in the tournament before it got halted due to the COVID pandemic. He made his senior Wales debut in 2022 and has made 17 appearances, and will captain Wales for the 2025 Six Nations tournament.

Wales have named their team to face Italy in round two of the Six Nations. Taulupe Faletau starts the game, and will represent Wales for the first time since the World Cup in 2023. Scarlets centre Eddie James is handed his first ever start in the red jersey, and will partner up with Nick Tompkins in the midfield.
