The Senate narrowly approved President Donald Trump's signature second-term policy bill, a nearly 900-page package packed with tax cuts and other campaign promises, in a major legislative victory for the president that came after a tense debate within his party that stretched on for nearly four days.

U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis, a North Carolina Republican, broke with his party Saturday and said he would not support the federal “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” the sweeping budget package that would enact much of President Donald Trump’s agenda.

Senate Republicans narrowly passed President Trump’s $4.5 trillion bill with a tie-breaking vote from Vice President JD Vance. It extends tax cuts and cuts Medicaid, while adding nearly $3.3 trillion to the deficit.
