Tulane running back Makhi Hughes, who rushed for 1,401 yards and scored 17 total touchdowns this season, has entered the transfer portal, sources told ESPN.

After Tulane's 33-8 loss to Florida in the Gasparilla bowl, coach Jon Sumrall counted 35 seniors with zero eligibility left, and that list does not even include having to replace redshirt freshman transfer quarterback Darian Mensah.

The 5-foot-11 redshirt sophomore made a sizable impact during his time with Tulane football. Hughes sat out the 2022 season, being granted a medical redshirt, but he took off in 2023. Hughes rushed for 1,378 yards and seven touchdowns off 258 carries last season.

It was only two days ago that Clemson defensive tackle Tre Williams entered the transfer portal. And two days later, he’s in Ann Arbor, checking out what Michigan football has to offer. And it appears as if the Wolverines are in the pole position for his services.
